Mammography Technologist

Location: Michigan, Detroit

Position Summary:

Carries out digital mammograms of the breast to produce high-quality mammographic images in line with established protocols under general supervision. May also conduct breast imaging procedures.

Responsibilities:

Specializes in screening and diagnostic mammography for breast tumor detection.
Gathers patient history, explains procedures, and addresses patient concerns to ensure patient comfort and confidence while meeting individual patient needs.
Operates and maintains mammography equipment to ensure proper functionality.
Positions patients, adjusts mammographic equipment, and sets exposure factors based on radiographic techniques and protocols. Ensures correct image capture as per physician requirements.
Completes quality assurance processes and follows radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure to patients, staff, and self.

Qualifications:

Required:

Graduation from an AMA-approved radiology technology school.
Certification in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
Certification in mammography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Preferred:

Associate degree in radiology.

According to Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations, all McLaren employees must be vaccinated against COVID-19 by January 4, 2022. Exemptions are allowed for employees with valid medical conditions or religious beliefs.
