POSITION OVERVIEW
Hours: 7:30am

  • 4pm, Mon Fri


Providing support in addressing the health needs of students; assisting in implementing the school health program; and providing appropriate care and/or referral for ill, medically fragile and/or injured students.

Administer first aid and medication to students according to district policy and procedures.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Notify student's guardian of visits to the Health Office.
  • Offer care for student injuries.
  • Create an Arizona Health Record for each student.
  • Record immunizations, vision and hearing test results.
  • Maintain all prescription and nonprescription medication with proper security measures.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitized office.
  • Maintain and rotate supplies.
  • Complete weekly accident and health office visit reports for Administrator.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings.
  • Conduct hearing and vision screening.
  • Complete and send immunization and hearing reports to state.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Education, Licensure, or Certification

Required- 1+ year of School Health experience OR- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Registered Medical Assistant (MA), EMT, LPN or RN- Active CPR Certification required

Preferred- 2+ years of School Health experience preferred


Specialized Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Positively interact with all students.
  • Create a safe environment that students feel safe in.
  • Ability to identify individual student medical needs.
  • Good communication skills with students, coworkers, administration and parents.
  • Ability to collaborate with other school staff.
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance.
BACKGROUND CHECKS- The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check


Arizona Employees:

  • Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Must be able to obtain and hold a valid IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card at all times

Nevada Employees:

  • NV Fingerprint Background Check

Duties are performed typically in school and/or office settings throughout the division.

May include frequent walking, standing, stooping, lifting up to approximately 25 pounds and occasional lifting of equipment and/or materials weighing up to approximately 40 pounds may be required.

- Must have the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time; see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone; and the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
