Junior Cost Accountant
in the city of South Gate, CA.
This is a _contract to hire_** opportunity to join our Accounting department.
Schedule: 8am-4:30pm
Pay:
$30-35/hour
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Cost Accountant to join our finance team.
As a Junior Cost Accountant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy of our cost accounting processes and providing valuable insights to support strategic decision-making within the organization.
-Cost Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyze manufacturing and production costs to identify variances and discrepancies.
- Prepare detailed cost reports and analyses to provide management with insights into cost drivers and trends.
- Monitor inventory levels and reconcile inventory accounts to ensure accuracy.
Standard Costing:
- Establish and maintain standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead.
- Update standard costs regularly to reflect changes in production processes or market conditions.
- Analyze deviations from standard costs and investigate root causes.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Assist in the development of annual budgets and forecasts, particularly related to manufacturing costs.
- Provide support to department heads in understanding their cost budgets and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
- Monitor actual performance against budget and forecast and provide variance analysis.
Product Costing:
- Calculate the cost of new products or product variations, including materials, labor, and overhead.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to ensure accurate costing of new products and timely launch.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve cost accounting processes and systems.
- Develop and implement cost control measures to optimize manufacturing efficiencies and reduce costs.
- Streamline reporting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Compliance and Audit Support:
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations related to cost accounting.
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing relevant documentation and explanations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 35 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Proficiency in cost accounting principles and practices.
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems; prefferably SAP ERP system.
- Experience in configuring and utilizing SAP ERP system for cost accounting, inventory management, and reporting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fastpaced environment.
