Position Description:


This announcement will be used to fill a full-time permanent Conference Room Tech (Systems Programmer I) position within the Office of Information Technology.


This is a highly specialized technical support position responsible for configuring and maintaining conference room equipment, including projectors, screens, audio systems, video conferencing equipment, and other AV peripherals.


NATURE AND VARIETY OF WORK
Configure and maintain conference room equipment including projectors, screens, audio systems, video conferencing equipment, and other AV peripherals.

Provide technical support to users experiencing issues with conference room technology.

May require working non-standard hours to support important public events such as Council Meetings.

Troubleshoot hardware and software problems related to conference room technology.

Perform routine maintenance and updates on conference room equipment.

Coordinate with vendors and service providers for repairs and replacements as needed.

Train users on how to operate conference room technology effectively.

Develop and maintain user manuals and job aides

Maintain an inventory of conference room equipment and spare parts.

Stay current with technological advancements in conference room technology and recommend upgrades or enhancements as appropriate.

Ensure compliance with security protocols and best practices for conference room technology.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Installation and support of commercial grade, IP based conference room and AV technology.

2+ years experience troubleshooting video conferencing and AV equipment (preferred);
2+ years experience troubleshooting IT equipment

desktop/laptop PCs basic network connectivity.

Configuration of software through the use of web based administrator portals.

Conducting needs assessments with customer.

Documentation of needs & requirements, use cases

Vendor management.

Managing the work assigned to vendors to ensure that the most appropriate vendor is selected for the job.

Ensuring that one vendor is not unfairly favored over other vendors

Coordinating schedules of the AV vendor, FMD, facilities vendors, customer, and others.

One year experience in Project Management/Coordination.

Coordinating schedules between vendors, customers, and other internal partners.

Breaking down a project into manageable tasks.

Estimating the effort and time required for completion.

Capable of understanding the skills needed for tasks and which entity to assign/coordinate with.

Executing project plan and adjusting to unanticipated issues.

Read, understand, and follow wiring diagrams.

Cable management.

Understanding the appropriate use of consumer/personal equipment vs. commercial grade equipment.


Configuration management; processes and discipline of identifying patches that are needed, assessing criticality, testing, and production deployment of patches and updates to software and firmware; Scheduling of updates.


Use diagramming software (Lucidchart, Visio, etc.) to create room layouts/mock ups and system designs; Use of same to update as-built diagrams.

Ability to manage conflicting priorities
- operational vs. project

Train field PC techs in.

Troubleshooting techniques for AV and conferencing tech

if/how to use the management portals.

System usage

Training customers in how to use the systems.

Strong customer service skills; support of priority customers.

Maintain a flexible schedule to support functions in the evening.

PC/Desktop computer tech skills.

Troubleshoot hardware and software issues.

Diagnose basic network connectivity issues.

Minimum Qualifications:


Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in mathematics, public or business administration, or a related field, including or supplemented by specialized training in electronic data processing, programming, operations, and methodologies; and one (1) or more years of experience in telecommunications, computer operating systems, and database management.
