Shipping/ Receiving Clerk

What You'll Do

  • Ships products to vendors and prepares and maintains records of merchandise shipped
  • Posts weights and shipping charges and prepares goods for final shipment
  • Performs basic research, confirmation and followup of products shipped and receiving discrepancies
  • Unpacks and checks goods received against purchase orders or invoices, maintains records of received goods and rejects unsatisfactory items
  • Receives, examines and processes all returns in a timely and efficient manner
  • Researches, traces and matches physical inventory, monitors spare parts inventory
  • Contacts suppliers for returns and repairs
  • Coordinates ontime turnaround of repaired products

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Minimum 6 months to 1 year of related shipping, receiving or inventory control experience
  • Previous work experience in a warehouse environment

Principal Challenges and Accountabilities

  • Ability to multitask Decisions and Judgment
  • Works on assignments that are routine or semiroutine in nature, requiring limited judgment
  • Has little or no role in decisionmaking

Internal/External Interfaces

  • All areas of the Operations group, particularly the warehouse

Essential Mental Functions

  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Able to follow established procedures and instructions on a regular basis

Essential Physical Functions

  • Prolonged standing
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. (over the course of a 8 hour day) which includes lifting, carrying, bending, kneeling frequent to continuous
  • Ability to work in noncontrolled temperature warehouse environment
  • Manual dexterity occasional (ex. Use of pencil/pen to check off packages)

Tools, Materials and Equipment Used

  • Standard office equipment including but not limited to computer, phone, copier and fax machine
  • Ability to use a handtruck and pallet jack
