***The Safety Specialist provides support and assistance to ensure a safe environment for TGC employees and members. Weekend and evening shifts available.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ensure the safety of members and employees.
  • Patrol the interior and exterior of the property, including parking lots for potential problems and safety issues.
  • Respond to calls for code green (aggressive behavior) and assist in de-escalating the situation. Assists PAC (Psychiatric Acute Care) Unit and the Crisis Stabilization Unit with high acuity clients as needed.
  • Promote safe work practices; resolve and/or report any safety concerns.
  • Provides support and assistance to providers and their members as needed, related to safety and de-escalation situations as they occur.
  • Facilitates training as needed.
  • Monitors and reports members' behavior.
  • Assists staff with recreational programs offered to members as needed.
  • Keeps facility safe and comfortable for both members and staff while ensuring unauthorized items are kept off property.
  • Provides customer service to internal and external customers and stakeholders.
  • Ability to handle emotional and stressful situations with agitated clients while remaining calm and supportive during crisis and potential crisis situations.
  • Participates in the Performance Improvement Processes of The Guidance Center.
  • Willingness to learn and ability to receive constructive feedback in a professional manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS**
Required:High School Diploma or GED
One year safety experience
Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing. Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred.
Ability to obtain Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
At least 21 years of age or older.
Valid AZ driver's license.


Preferred:

Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

The physical demands of this position warrant:
Sedentary Work Occasionally lifting up to 10 pounds. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
