Description

We are seeking a Director of Building Operations to oversee properties in the Chicagoland area and Central Illinois to ensure they are properly maintained while operating within a budget.

We are looking for someone who has both building operations management / supervisory experience and technical experience building systems and construction.


What you'll be doing:


  • Oversees operation of various types of property to ensure safe, reliable facilities with tenant satisfaction. Frequently driving to visit site locations as required (vehicle will be provided within one year of employment).
  • Responsible for establishing and meeting budget goals.
  • Supervises Property Managers, Building Managers, maintenance, and janitorial staff at assigned locations.
  • Performs building inspections and make recommendations for maintenance, repairs and improvement of building systems such as structural, roofing, carpentry, mechanical, electrical and plumbing. Acts a resource for staff to troubleshoot system breakdowns and deficiencies.
  • Conceptualizes, designs, implements, and operates necessary programs to ensure compliance with various governmental and company programs, policies, codes, and requirements.
  • Manages assigned projects using resources available.
  • Identifies, establishes, and manages contracts to support those areas of facility operation beyond the scope of assigned staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish training, preventive maintenance, safety, and other building operations related programs.

What you need to succeed:


  • EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field experience required.
  • MANAGEMENT:
  • 5+ years' experience in supervising building operations and maintenance with increasing responsibility.
  • Knowledgeable in fiscal areas of budgeting, cost accounting and estimating.
  • Demonstrated successful track record in building operations management in a commercial environment with prior supervisory experience.
  • TECHNICAL:
  • Technical background in engineering, construction management, architecture, and related fields.
  • Technical handson knowledgeable in building systems including mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and general construction.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans.
  • GENERAL:
  • Must be able to work in cramped spaces, have visual acuity, reasonable hearing, be mobile, and able to read, understand, and speak English.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), database management programs, and project management programs.
  • Valid driver's license.
