Regular, Full-Time, Limited-Term (not to exceed twelve (12) months in duration), RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Windward Community College (WCC), Title lll Nā Muʻo Hoʻopākela: Blossoming through online education grant project, located in Kaneohe, Hawai'i. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.
HOURLY RATE RANGE: $ $32.25/Hr.
DUTIES: Assists Nā Muʻo Project Coordinator with operation of the WCC Nā Muʻo program, which serves middle to high school Native Hawaiian immersion language students both in person and online. Assists the Project Coordinator with Develops developing training and professional development opportunities for counselors, instructors and success coaches. Develops innovative, olelo-based, proactive advising practices and tutoring strategies. Implements olelo-based evaluation models to provide evidence-based data to support the olelo model. Responsible for maintaining regular travel and work schedule at both WCC and various immersion distance sites (including but not limited to: Office of Hawaiian Education, Ke Kula 'o Samuel M. Kamakau Laboratory Public Charter School, Ka ʻUmeke Kāʻeo Public Charter School, Kawaikini Public Charter School, Ke Kula Kaiapuni o Ānuenue, Kahuku Academy, and Kailua High School) to observe programmatic implementation and collect qualitative data on program progress. Develops and implements olelo-based training for student employees hired as Supplemental Instructors. Assists with providing proactive advising and academic guidance of individual students, both online and in person, in partnership with the Olelo Facilitator. Leads activities, workshops, and assessments as needed. Works with Project Coordinator to ensure student support services are provided at each target school/institution. Maintains accurate documentation and updates information weekly or as needed to ensure all information is current.
PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Hawaiian Studies, Social Work, Counseling Psychology, Psychology, or related field.
EXPERIENCE
One to three (1-3) years of experience working with underserved student populations to engage them in goal setting and overcoming barriers. Experience in developing and facilitating online workshops and other resources. Some experience with educational technologies such as STAR for Students and Banner. Experience working with low-income or underserved populations.
KNOWLEDGE
Functional knowledge of college admissions processes, the University of Hawai'i (UH) system application, career guidance, and curriculum development. Familiar with Hawaiian lmmersion (Kaiapuni) students. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google software.
ABILITIES & SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Ability to write reports. Excellent organizational skills. Proficient computer skills. Must be proficient in the Hawaiian language (i.e. Native speaker status, completion of college credit coursework in 'Olelo Hawai'i at the 400 level or above, or completion of K-12 Hawaiian medium education). Must possess a valid driver's license (and if use of personal vehicle on the job is required, must also have valid personal driver's insurance equivalent to Hawai'i's No-Fault Driver's lnsurance) and maintain throughout the duration of employment. Post Offer/Employment Condition: Must be able to pass a post offer criminal background check. Must be able to complete the UH Title IX training within twelve (12) months from date of hire.Must be able to complete the UH Information Security Awareness Training (ISAT) within two (2) weeks from date of hire, and re-certify every twelve (12) months.

SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Hawaiian Studies, Counseling Psychology, Psychology, Social Work, or related field. One to three (1-3) years of relevant professional experience in working with Native Hawaiian or other indigenous populations. Experience working with secondary school, postsecondary institution or community-based organizations. Working knowledge of early college and also the process of admissions and enrollment for early college students in the UH System. Experience in classroom management and teaching.
