Job DescriptionPrimary Functions: Position entails the planning, execution and oversight of DCIMSS project work in support of ships across the U.S. and, potentially, overseas.Position Requirements: Education: Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering or related technical discipline from an accredited four-year college or university or eight years of hands-on experience in damage control and shipyard project management..
General Experience: A minimum of four years of managerial experience on complex engineering or technical shipboard projects, including but not limited to installation, maintenance, repair, testing, or major upgrade.
Functional Responsibility: Senior technical professional who applies comprehensive knowledge of methodologies, theoretical concepts, principles, and practices in specific professional scientific or technical disciplines. Deals effectively with individuals or groups. Plans and adjusts work operations to meet changing or emergent program or production requirements within available resources. Coordinates and integrates the work activities and resources of several organizational segments or of several different projects. Without supervision, plans, conducts, leads, and accomplishes broad assignments. Provides guidance and assistance in coordinating tasks and ensuring technical adequacy of the end-product. Ensures compliance with technological standards throughout the project. Simultaneously plans, manages, and provides technical oversight for engineering activities, including analysis and design, project development, cost computation and scheduling.
Specialized Experience: A minimum of four years' experience in managing major engineering or related technical programs associated with H, M & E systems. Must have hands-on experience in installation, test and/or repair, operation, upgrade and maintenance of these systems.

Eligibility to obtain a passport
Specific and detailed knowledge of USN 'Gas-Free" and "Tag Out" procedures and
requirements.
Notes:
This position involves extensive travel and may require evening/weekend work.
Experience in U.S. Navy Damage Control is essential for this position.
Contacts: In addition to ongoing interface with the program manager and all DCIMSS personnel supervised, this position involves frequent coordination with counterparts from other organizations engaged in DCIMSS operations. This position also involves frequent interaction with representatives of supported ships and squadrons.
Complexity: This position requires ongoing planning and monitoring of personnel and materiel resources. The DCIMSS Project Manager generates and manages work assignment schedules to ensure an adequate labor force is present for each phase of the DCIMSS process. The DCIMSS Project Manager is also responsible for continually assessing availability of DCIMSS components and support items to ensure all project commitments can be met without delay. The DCIMSS Project Manager also develops status reports and other documentation associated with project work.
Supervision given: The DCIMSS Project Manager is involved in the direct supervision of up to two team leaders. The total size of the project work force for which the DCIMSS Project Manager is responsible ranges from 5 to ten personnel.
Equipment Used: This position requires use and oversight of the operation of forklifts, pallet jacks, cargo trucks, computers,, printers, power and hand tools.
