Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Billing and Coding Specialist to consult with us to verify accurate billing. This is a temporary contracted position.

Your role will involve utilizing your knowledge of behavioral health billing systems, coding, and terminology to ensure timely and accurate reimbursement for services provided.


Duties:


  • Review and verify accuracy of patient demographic and insurance information, check and verify benefits and eligibility
  • Enter charges into the billing system
  • Assign appropriate codes and modifiers to diagnoses and procedures
  • Submit claims electronically using company's EHR system or by mail
  • Follow up on unpaid or denied claims
  • Resolve billing discrepancies or issues with insurance companies
  • Communicate with patients regarding their billing questions or concerns
  • Maintain patient records, billing statements and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations

Skills:


  • Proficient in behavioral health billing systems, EHR and software
  • Strong knowledge of behavioral coding principles and guidelines
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures
  • Ability to interpret Explanation of Benefits (EOB) statements
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
