    In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements:

    • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
    • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.
    • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
    • Remain in "valid" Visa status as applicable.
    • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.
    • Federal Work Study student may apply.
    • In good disciplinary standing.
    • Must be located in the U.S.

    The Diversity and Inclusion Recruitment Student Coordinator supports prospective students involved with diversity and inclusion initiatives and coming from historically underrepresented groups. Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Diversity and Inclusion Recruitment and the broad direction of the Assistant Dean of Admissions for Diversity and Inclusion Recruitment, this role assists with D&II outreach duties and the successful implementation of the programming processes and initiatives, including but not limited to communications, data
    organization, facilitation, and event staffing. This role acts in a leadership capacity, leading groups of students from other Admissions areas and prospective students in Admissions programming and initiatives, including B4: Black, Brown, and Bound for Berklee. This person provides inclusive service to prospective students and their families using the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion. In addition, for qualifying individuals, this role has the opportunity of volunteering to be an Admissions Student Ambassador, representing the institution at admissions events on campus and domestic trips.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Customer Service and Communication
    • Serve as a point of escalation from other Admissions areas in answering general inquiries involving diversity and inclusion recruitment and reassigning to the Assistant Directors of Diversity and Inclusion Recruitment when necessary.
    • Answers correspondences relating to the diversity and inclusion component of the admissions/recruitment process for Berklee's three US-based campuses. Team members will handle inbound and outbound communications via Admissions phone line and emails.
    • Ensures that the highest level of inclusive service is provided to applicants, answering questions professionally and thoroughly and referring to staff members or other offices as necessary.
    • Conduct regular phone outreach to prospective students to support diversity and inclusion recruitment enrollment and initiatives.
    • Oversight of social media, fielding necessary communications.
    • Other duties as assigned by either the Assistant Directors or Assistant Dean of Diversity of Inclusion Recruitment.
    Programming
    • Assists in training sessions and co-facilitates activities held for on-campus Admissions students like the D&I Student Focus Group.
    • Manages communications and works directly with prospective and enrolled students for the B4: Black, Brown and Bound for Berklee Program
    • Creates spreadsheets and finds creative solutions for data projects pertaining to B4 and other recruitment projects.
    • Acts as a lead mentor for the B4 Program.
    • Assists the Diversity and Inclusion Recruitment Team with preparing all materials needed for on- and off-campus events.
    • Assigned to work on-campus diversity and inclusion and admissions events and assist those on the Admissions team.
    • Responsible for locating mentors and the mentor assignments for B4.
    • Other duties as assigned by either the Assistant Directors or Assistant Dean of Diversity of Inclusion Recruitment.
    Knowledge and Skills Required:
    • Experience working with individuals from many different cultural backgrounds.
    • Willingness to engage in D&I training.
    • Knowledge and ability to apply the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in one-on-one and group interactions.
    • Attention to detail, strong organization, and time-management skills.
    • Prior history of customer service-related skills.
    • Prior history of collaboration with peers and leading teams in recruitment or academic setting.
    • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work independently.
    • Able to conduct both written and oral communication professionally and knowledgeably using best practices of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
    • Ability to maintain and promote confidentiality required.
    • Ability to public speak and teach others in diversity and inclusion settings.
    • Familiarity with spreadsheet applications, strong writing and reading skills, and strong computer skills. Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRMs a plus but not required.
    • A willingness to be proactive and take initiative to seek out new projects or suggest new ideas or different approaches
