Old Republic Surety Company (ORSC) is currently seeking a
Claims Support Supervisor to join its
Claims Team at
Brookfield, WI. In general, this position supervises the claims support team and ensures the prompt and efficient handling of claims.


DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITIES:


  • Supervise direct reports, make recommendations for performance management and disciplinary action. Train subordinates to achieve goals. In addition, contribute to the new employee selection process.
  • Supervise the claims department workflow. Distribute and allocate work to ensure efficient and timely processing of claims.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for claims support team. Identify and implement methods for streamlining existing processes.
  • Ensure the claims support staff consistently and efficiently receives and places telephone calls, answers questions, and relays messages regarding principals, claimants, attorneys, and company personnel. Assist up to designated authority all escalated calls, questions, and messages.
  • Set up new claim files in company claim processing system, obtain needed underwriting information, and work with Vice President on next steps.
  • Prepare correspondence using departmental templates, dictation equipment, and/or adjusterscripted written copy. Compose and type interdepartmental memos, letters, claim acknowledgments, or requests for additional information, under the direction of Vice President-Claims, as needed.
  • Coordinate meetings and conference calls for inhouse counsel and adjusters.
  • Assist with processing loss payments, salvage reserves, contract proceeds, and reinsurance transactions.
  • Assemble and summarize information, data, and other related material as required for preparation and distribution of standard and special reports, comparisons, presentations, and as required for internal audit.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Working as a Claims Support Supervisor requires one to work independently and effectively within a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with Microsoft (MS) Windows and Office products is necessary.

Other skills necessary include excellent oral and written communication skills, strong organizational and accurate proofreading skills, the ability to maintain accurate records, the ability to exercise discretion with confidential information, strong attention to detail, and the ability to use a variety of office equipment.
