- Willingness to be involved with a broad spectrum of construction, materials, scheduling, and design activities.
- Willing to receive supervision and support from senior field representatives, Project Managers, and designers.
- Ideally, previous experience or internship as a Construction Inspector, CADD drafter, or materials inspector.
- Must possess the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents.
- Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses, and have the capability to learn and assist design teams with CADD drafting.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or closely related field
- Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook)
- Proven problem solving and documentation abilities
- Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses for civil projects related to civil infrastructure, such as roads and bridges
- Collaborate with other field representatives or Project Managers.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Conduct reviews and verifications of construction schedules, and assist in the preparation of cost estimates and specifications for construction projects
- Give direction to clerical and technical personnel as needed
- Interest and/or experience in the construction field
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
- This position typically requires successfully passing drug-screening procedures prior to being hired; thereafter subject to random and cause drug and alcohol testing. HDR is a drug and alcohol free environment
- EIT certification strongly preferred. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of "Coordinator" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression
- MNDOT Field Certifications and experience with Federal and State aid documentation is preferred
- Primavera P6 Scheduling Software experience
- Ability to perform work on Microstation or Autocad a plus
- Some demonstrated experience in construction inspection and materials testing
- Ability to interpret construction schedules
- Preference given to local candidates
