    The Construction Coordinator assists in management of all phases and types of mechanical construction including, civil-foundation activities, steel erection, pipe installation and equipment setting. They report to the Construction Superintendent and are a key member of the Capital Projects construction management team. The Construction Coordinator brings experience and skills to key construction activities such as technical and safety integrity of the field engineering, field procurement, interfaces with QA, drives schedule milestones, sets priorities, and supports facilities start-up activities. The Construction Coordinator is competent to supervise all technical discipline work associated with the project and may also be assigned to work in other functional areas e.g. commissioning & turnover.

    Responsibilities may include:
    • Participate in assigned safety tasks and providing leadership to ensure all construction at the job site is done safely and follows site safety policies.
    • Ensure construction is executed according to engineering drawings, plans, and specifications and in accordance with good construction practices to a level of quality that meets REPs / site quality standards.
    • Influence design engineering work to ensure constructability is built into the design / layout along with providing adequate accessibility in all areas of the facility for the active units that surround.
    • Under the direction of the Construction Superintendent, coordinate and provide direction to other members of the Capital Projects Construction Team, including discipline construction supervision/oversight in civil, structural, mechanical, welding, non-destructive testing, electrical, instrumentation, piping, coatings, insulation, fireproofing, pre-commissioning, rigging and heavy lifting disciplines and field staff within Health Safety and Environmental, QA/QC, materials control, logistics, project controls and contract administration functions.
    • Participate in bid clarification and pre-job kick-off meetings.
    • Review and ensure fit for purpose, construction contractor's daily and weekly work plans.
    • Drive contractors to achieve targets / goals put forth each shift / week / etc.
    • Ensure construction QA/QC activities per design requirements.
    • Ensure construction meets quality standards.
    • Review contractor's schedules and planning basis and ensure these meet project requirements.
    • Ensure validity of contractor progress statements.
    • Specify and influence progress recovery measures with contractor as appropriate.
    • Supervise in-house and contractor construction team activities to meet project goals.
    Required Qualifications:
    • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country.
    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Possess a Valid Driver's License.
    • 10 or more years of experience working capital project construction and installation in the petrochemical or refining industries.
    • Intermediate proficiency at MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
    • 3 or more years of experience working in P6
    • Must be willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to comply with the following:
      • Travel up to 5% of the time
      • Occasional on-call duties
      • Work extended hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays
      • Transport articles up to 50 pounds
      • Work safely near large, hot, high-speed machines
      • Climb ladders and stairs up to 200 feet in height
      • Work around chemicals, including acids and bases
      • Work around hydrocarbons under high pressure and heat
      • Work outside in harsh weather conditions
      • Wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (such as steel-toe shoes, ear and eye protection)
      • Maintain face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven)
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent on the job field training in Construction
    • Technical competency in mechanical, steel, and piping construction methods and techniques in a large refinery or chemical plant environment
    • Interpersonal, teambuilding and team leading skills.
    • Professional behavior and interactions are required at all times
    • 5 or more years' experience as construction lead, construction coordinator, or construction management/superintendent at large multi-craft project construction projects in petrochemical or refining
    The Wood River Refinery is located in Roxana, Illinois, about 15 miles northeast of St. Louis, Missouri, at the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers. Refinery facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrocracking, hydrodesulfurization and delayed coking units. The refinery processes a mixture of light, low-sulfur; heavy, high sulfur; and high-acid crude oil. The crude supply is sourced domestically or from Canada. Wood River produces a high percentage of transportation fuels. Other products include petrochemical feedstocks, asphalt and petroleum coke. Refined products are distributed to customers by pipeline, rail car, barge and truck and are shipped to markets throughout the Midcontinent region.
