Responsibilities & Qualifications
**RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyzing current enterprise Firewall ruleset
  • Standardizing and developing new Firewall object group naming conventions
  • Coordinating across teams to implement thoughtful consolidation and reduction of Firewall Rule Sets
  • Implementing security hardening configurations in alignment with government and industry best practices
  • Upgrading and refreshing Firewall infrastructure
  • Performing day to day operations on the agencies Firewall infrastructure
  • Monitoring and analyzing Firewall system logs
  • Respond to service requests for Firewall Rules Changes
  • Respond to network and security incidents, providing logs and other forensic data to incident response teams.
  • Working with agency engineering teams to develop and design future Firewall architecture for agency.
  • Assist the agency by recommending and implementing improvements and policies across the enterprise
  • Take direction from, and provide updates to, the program leadership team.
  • Maintaining 100% accountability of government furnished equipment.
  • Complete reports and other project documents in a professional, timely manner, as required.
**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3 years relevant experience to include the following:
  • Experience configuring Cisco ASA Firewall ACLs, Security controls, and Network Object Groups
  • Experience installing and deploying Firewalls (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of Information Assurance Best Practices
  • Working knowledge of routing and switching technologies, i.e., routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), spanning tree, VRRP, etc.
  • Working knowledge of government security regulations, guidelines, and policies is preferred.
  • Experience analyzing Firewall rulesets, network objects, object groups, etc.
  • Experience implementing government and/or industry best standards including deny by default firewall policies.
  • Experience cleaning up firewall rules and standardizing object/rule naming conventions.
  • Implementing restrictive, deterministic firewall rule bases
  • Working knowledge of the installation, configuration and daytoday sustainment of network equipment, to include but not limited to: firewalls and other network appliances
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Five (5) years relevant experience to include the following:
  • Working knowledge and understanding of industry standard network environments to include firewall and security hardware/software
  • Working knowledge of Information Assurance Best Practices
  • In depth knowledge of LAN and WAN operations
  • Must have minimum active Secret clearance
  • A degree in IT, computer science, business management, or a related field is preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS
CCNA or CCNP Preferred
Comp TIA Security + CE Preferred
