$80, $100,000.00 / year. Starting pay is commensurate with experience.

About Us:


Cignal is an enterprising startup located in Reedsville, PA, which is on the outskirts of State College, PA, home of the Pennsylvania State University.

The company was founded in 2018 and is the creator of the Cignal Engine:
a virtual environment to safely test and exercise AI vision models before deploying them in the real world.

Cignal Engine combines simulation, AI/ML, and other mathematical techniques to create high-fidelity synthetic image streams that are virtually indistinguishable from real data.

What We Do:


The Cignal Engine is used to test how well transportation security AI/ML models detect firearms, explosives, narcotics, and other dangerous items on people, in baggage, and in cargo.

Cignal is a member of the NVIDIA Inception startup program.


What You'll Do:


We're seeking a talented
AI Developer to join our core development team to help build new homeland security and healthcare innovations in Cignal Engine.

The work that you'll do is important because you will personally be creating public safety and healthcare innovations while introducing a game-changing, cutting-edge product


In This Role, You Will:


  • Deploy generative models in Cignal Engine's 2D/3D rendering pipelines
  • Train Cignal Agents using the PyCignal API for Reinforcement Learning
  • Develop Python modules and APIs for training and deploying neural networks
  • Modify and implement neural network architectures for image and nonimage data
  • Deploy synthetic data quality metrics in an MLOps environment
  • Engage with customers and the Cignal Engine community to demonstrate how to use Cignal Engine to build advanced computer vision models
  • Participate in code review sessions and accept and respond to critical feedback
  • Write efficient, scalable code

What We're Looking For:


  • 2+ years of experience OR a Masters Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Strong Linux, BSD/UNIX knowledge
  • Experience developing models in PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Keras
  • Strong Python development experience
  • CI/CD, Conda, Docker, Git experience
  • Ability to manage model weights/parameters with systems like Neptune
  • Experience designing, training, and deploying production AI systems
  • Strong math skills
  • A creative mindset and unique approach to solving problems
  • An ability to quickly iterate on concepts and ideas without sacrificing quality

Nice to Have:


  • Experience with NVIDIA software, GPUs, and CUDA
  • Knowledge of computer vision algorithms along with nonimage data
  • Experience with xray/computed tomography, millimeter wave, or other nonvisible imaging modalities (MRI, ultrasound, sonography, acoustic)
