Aviation Academy of America, Inc. (AAA) is a flight school located in Houston TX, training domestic students to become commercial pilots.


AAA has taken every effort to list all duties performed by the Employee but expects that the Employee from time to time will be asked to perform duties not listed within the position description.


All full time Flight Instructor will be regularly scheduled and will be available to work a minimum of 32 hours per week.

All flight instructor are expected to fly a minimum of 3 flights per day weather and aircraft permitting.

JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

May include any and/or all of the following:

  • Maintain flight training standards as outlined by both the FAA and Aviation Academy of America
  • Maintain student pass rate at 80% or greater
  • Meet with each student as published on schedule; ensure that all flight lessons are completed according to the Training Course Outline specifications; ensure that all appropriate endorsements are made in the student's record and personal logbook.
  • Follow policies and procedures of the Operations Manual and make sure they are maintained
  • Ensure assigned student training records are kept in accordance with Aviation Academy and FAA policy
  • Submit requests for stage checks upon completion of each stage of flight training; ensure that all flight lessons and flight books are completed before request for stage check.
  • Assist in towing of aircraft in/out of hangar; help in tying down aircraft; assists in departmental activities; attends meetings; performs other duties as assigned.
  • Instructors are expected to fly a minimum of 3 scheduled flights per day unless the flight is cancelled due to dangerous inclement weather, binding maintenance issues or sickness

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Knowledge of various flight instruction instrumentation and equipment
Interpersonal/human relations skills
Verbal and written communication skills
Physically and mentally able to instruct/teach/tutor ground school, simulator and in flight
Capable to approach problems/decisions analytically
Ability to reason logically and methodically
Ability to perform under stressful circumstances
Attentiveness to detail


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified Flight Instructor
  • Airplane (CFI), CFII required. MEI certificate required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Must hold a current firstclass medical certificate.

Pay:


All flight instructors have a base salary of $15,000 plus hourly pay anywhere from $20.00 to $25.00 per flight hour and ground school hour depending on instructor ratings.


Pay:
$20, $50,000.00 per year
