- Own the overall data warehouse architecture at Confluent
- Design, create, and manage the data warehouse infrastructure, supporting current analytics, ML & AI requirements and preparing for future challenges
- Establish and maintain data models, architecture patterns, and schemas considering security, performance, scalability, and business necessities
- Implement tools for data modeling, orchestration, and data pipelines such as DBT
- Develop & supervise data pipelines to ensure quality, reliability, and scalability
- Collaborate with various teams to grasp data needs and provide solutions that meet business requirements
- Set and implement data governance rules, standards, procedures, and best practices for managing data integrity, quality, and lifecycle
- Ensure alignment between Confluent's batch and real-time architecture teams
- Maintain detailed documentation of data architecture and systems for effective implementation by all team members
- Stay informed about industry trends, technologies, and data engineering & analytics best practices
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in data engineering, focusing on data warehouse design, data modeling, ETL processes, and data transformation pipelines
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms like BigQuery and modern data stack components
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, and data engineering tools and frameworks
- Familiarity with CI/CD principles and tools (e.g., Git, Terraform, Docker)
- Knowledge of data governance, data quality management, and regulatory compliance principles
- Experience with Airflow for orchestration of workflows
- GCP experience, including proficiency in Google Cloud services such as BigQuery, Dataflow
- Experience with Kafka, Data Build Tool (DBT)
- Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration abilities
- Capability to work in a fast-paced environment and lead a team to deliver high-quality outcomes

About the Position:
Confluent introduced the Data Streaming field to enable real-time data connection and processing wherever businesses require it. We are looking for a skilled and experienced Staff Data Architect to contribute to the design of our central nervous system.
The Data Architect is a senior technical expert responsible for the design, technical specifications, and evolution of Confluent's cloud data strategy.
The role involves overseeing functional & technical design, governance, lineage, and data quality processes.
