    Summary

    Duties



    These positions are located on 9CS-Independence Hall.

    9CS is a 22-bed unit, with 16 beds being occupied with Long term care Veterans and 6 beds being occupied with Transitional care Veterans.


    Serving a very diverse population, 9CS residents are challenged with varied and complex medical issues including but not limited to: MS, spinal cord injury, Huntington's disease, ALS as well as cardiac problems, diabetes, and heart failure.

    Many of the residents have mental health issues, including PTSD, anxiety, dementia, and other behavioral problems. The unit staff works closely with all members of the interdisciplinary team to provide the Veterans with optimal care.

    This is the Veterans home and the care delivered is resident centered and honors individual needs and preferences.

    Veterans remain on the unit for many medical challenges, IV's, and transfusions, avoiding the disruption of transfer to the acute units.

    The Veterans are actively involved in many activities and staff enjoy the long-term relations with the Veterans as they work together to plan their care.


    Nursing Assistant -

    Work Schedule:
    Part-time, 40 hours every 2 weeks
    or 64 hours every 2 weeks, on all shifts, with weekend & Federal holiday rotation required on all shifts


    Hours/shift preference will be discussed during interviews.

    Recruitment or Relocation Incentive:

    Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of existing pay, higher or unique qualifications, or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).


    Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)

    Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.


    Parental Leave:
    After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.


    Child Care Subsidy:
    After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66
    .

    Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
