    Overview:

    The Software Quality Assurance Manager is responsible, in partnership with Development Leadership, for maintaining the quality, availability, security, and delivery of technical services. The SQAM is ultimately responsible for the overall delivery and quality of the QA service, from testing plans, automation, team training, innovation, delivery of the QA service, hiring and team management, and support of Development Team Goals through the QA Service.

    The Software Quality Assurance Manager supervises the Quality Assurance Team consisting of Software Quality Assurance Analysts and the Software Quality Assurance Automation Architect.

    Responsibilities:
    • QUALITY: Support and direct the QA team to maintain high quality and bug free delivery of software and services through partnership with Development Teams.
    • TEAM HEALTH: Manage and support the QA teams, hire effectively, and coordinate training and growth through the QA Team.
    • INNOVATION: Lead and work with the QA Team to discover and implement new Quality Assurance opportunities and coordinate their use with key stakeholders in order to keep improving the team and the QA Service.
    • DELIVERY: Build a culture of fast delivery within QA so that work is done with quality but also with speed to ensure faster delivery times.
    • COMMUNICATION: Support the management and developers in tech with clear and effective communication including but not limited to training schedules, solving any delays in shipping value within QA work cycles, and keeping QA involved with the larger Tech Team initiatives.
    • COLLABORATION: Empower the QA team by working with them to build deeper connections into other Tech Teams, and by working with the Tech Leadership in new and innovative ways to continue to increase quality and deliver faster to customers.
    • MANAGEMENT:
      • Effectively oversee the master test plans.
      • Keep current on new technologies and QA methodologies.
      • Advocate for QA in Tech Leadership, and support Tech Leadership through QA.
      • Promote the advantages of effective quality assurance practices within the organization through open, honest, respectful and collaborative communication.
      • Mentor members of the QA team.
    • INCIDENT RESPONSE: Partner with Operations and Development to solve issues in the moment and find root causes.
    • CONFIDENTIALITY ASSURANCE: Ensure that all QA activities and communications maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
    • SECURITY: Partner with Security and Development teams to establish, maintain, and ensure best practices and procedures that promote data and functional security in all software releases. Facilitate regular meetings to review and refine these practices, enhancing the overall quality and security of our products.
    • ENHANCE AUTOMATION AND TRAINING: Develop and expand automated testing capabilities to streamline testing processes and improve efficiency. Provide ongoing training to the QA team on new automation tools and techniques, ensuring the team is skilled and up to date with the latest technological advancements.
    Qualifications:
    • American Software Testing Qualifications Board (ASTQB) certification or equivalent alternative.
    • Advanced knowledge of software testing methodologies.
    • Understanding of a wide variety of software testing principles.
    • Strong analytical skills and ability to conceptualize and articulate ideas clearly.
    • Ability to analyze data and create and review processes.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • A desire to help others achieve their best.
    • Willingness to assist other departments to develop solutions and metrics.
    • Eye for detail.
    • Technical proficiency must be able to use computers and generate reports.

    Preferred Skills

    • Test plan documentation experience.
    • Technical understanding of Covenant Eyes products.
    • Advanced knowledge of Windows, Mac, Web, and Mobile platforms.
    • Experience with Redmine/Trello/Jira/Google Docs.
    • Experience in creating, using and maintaining virtual machines.
    • 3-5 years of managing a QA team or department.
    • Experience training QA in automation, best practices or similar.
    • Experience working with vendors to negotiate pricing, get support, and receive training as necessary.
    • Bachelors or Masters degree with experience in the field.
