    ECP-Linear Accelerator Systems Operator/Control Room Operator

    Location: McAllen, Texas Category: Hourly

    Reports to: ECP Shift Supervisor Type: Full-Time

    Description:
    The ECP Control Room Operator is responsible for Operating and monitoring the Electronic Cold-Pasteurization (ECP) systems on screens and computers to identify any abnormal operating conditions and fix them on time to assure proper processing of products in accordance with written procedures for Linear Accelerator operation.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for shift production performance, safety, and security.
    • Adjusts controls and operates ECP systems in accordance with written procedures.
    • Monitors critical operating parameters to ensure proper ECP equipment operation and product processing.
    • Tracking and recording the status of the operational system using applicable journals and control system tools
    • Watching, troubleshooting, recordkeeping and preparing written documents for supervisors or safety inspectors
    • The ECP control room operator may have training responsibilities and it is required to rotate shift cycles or work sites.
    • Ability to operate various switches and control devices and knowledge of the effect each has on total system and equipment operation.
    • Processes products in compliance with USDA/ CBP/ FDA Regulations.
    • Operates LINAC system in accordance with company's established SOP's.
    • Supports Dosimetry/Quality Department in their process to ensure proper dose it is applied.
    • Writes/Reads work-plans and schematics and verifies equipment adjustments and material requirements.
    • Observes production operation to detect process defects or equipment malfunction.
    • Assists maintenance & engineering staff in performing preventative maintenance and repairs.
    • Took proper action in case of an emergency.
    • Generates and completes work orders as assigned by supervisor for system and/or equipment failures.
    • Facilitates visitor tours of ECP system operations.
    • Required to comply with and ensure all general safety, OSHA, USDA/APHIS, FDA and State of Texas regulations for position and facility operations.
    • Must follow all instruction related to Food Defense, Good Manufacturing Practices, and HACCP programs.
    • Must report to the Food Safety Department or their direct supervisor any problem or irregular situation related to food safety.
    • Implement and enforce security and food safety standards, policies and programs related to HACCP, and third-party standards, regulatory standards, food safety training programs, product inspections, and any work instructions.
    • Daily monitoring of Accelerator support and utility systems, daily records and reporting abnormal conditions, and accurately record data.
    • Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as required.

    Qualifications:

    • B.S. in Engineering, Physics, Science, or related field preferred
    • Associate degree (or equivalent) in technology, plus three (3) to five (5) years of related experience working as control room operator, electronic machine operator, and/or electronic control system/ control panel operator.
    • Previous experience working with power sources control panels in power and/or water stations is a plus.
    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and ten to fifteen years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Excellent troubleshooting skills
    • Knowledge and understanding of industrial and electronic/electrical processes.
    • Mechanical aptitude
    • Strong Mathematical and numerical skills
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Analytical person skills
    • Military Veterans with experience in technology related field
    • Must speak English. Ability to speak Spanish a plus.
    • Experience with electrical and/ or RF systems a plus
    • Must be able to conduct simple and complex instructions and ability to troubleshoot various situations in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other team members and employees.
    • Must be willing to work overtime weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as required.

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

    • Must be able to successfully complete Dosimetry training/certification.
    • Must be able to successfully complete ECP system (LINAC) training/ certification.

The employee must be able to move from location to location, operate, detect, diagnose, remove, install, modify, use, and control machinery, equipment, and tools in the work environment. Must be able to frequently ascend and descend spiraling staircases and work in confined spaces. Must be able to communicate, detect, discern, and hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This job includes close vision and adjusting focus to detect, discern, operate, and inspect. The employee is regularly exposed to energized electrical gear, moving mechanical parts, tools, and vehicles. Is occasionally exposed to low permissible levels of ionizing radiation. The noise level in the work
