_Since 1977, Sojourner Center has been a safe haven from domestic violence for women and their children in Arizona.

Since our founding, we have transformed lives by providing shelter and support services to more than 60,000 adults and children affected by domestic violence.

We provide a broad spectrum of services to victims of domestic violence, while working with professionals in the field on education, research and advocacy with the goal of ending domestic violence.

Job Summary:

In support of the Sojourner Center mission, provides support and resources for individuals and families with a focus on addressing trauma related to domestic violence through case management, support groups, and safety planning within the framework of a variety of programs.


  • Responsible for the flow of shift and directing the crisis shelter & transitional housing staff; facilitates classes offered on/off site and holds oncall responsibilities.
  • Coordinates with the Crisis Shelter Program Manager to ensure program elements follow traumainformed approach and align with Sojourner Center philosophy of care.

Schedule:
Wednesday-Saturday: 12:00pm - 11:00pm (Holds on-call responsibilities)


Rate of Pay:
$22.00/hour ($23.10/hr. after Spanish-English bilingual differential)


Education, Experience, and Other Requirements:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or any relevant field, plus one year related experience, including case management; or an equivalent combination of postsecondary education and work experience in family violence programs.
  • One year of supervisory experience required.
  • Ability to obtain a Level I Fingerprint Clearance Card, CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Valid Arizona Driver License, proof of automobile insurance and Motor Vehicle Record acceptable to Sojourner Center's insurance company.
  • Bilingual Spanish-English strongly preferred. Language Assessment will be administered.

Physical Factors/Working Conditions:


  • Stands, walks, and sits continuously throughout the day.
  • Reaches, stoops, bends, lifts, carries and manipulates up to 25 pounds.
  • Utilizes computer to access Intranet/Internet and enter information into prepared forms.
  • Some travel between work locations or in the community may be required.
  • Has the potential to be exposed to infectious diseases and must use Universal Precautions.
  • Required to spend time outside daily regardless of weather conditions.
  • Has a risk of physical danger due to the nature of the population served.
