Direct Digital Control Specialist 1 / Direct Digital Control Specialist 2 / Direct Digital Control Specialist 3- Utilities & Energy Services

Job Summary
A Direct Digital Control Specialist monitors, reviews and makes setpoint adjustments to campus direct digital controls. They provide basic support to facilities construction, renovation, and maintenance that is associated with the building automation systems.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monitor, maintain, and make minor programming set point adjustments to the campus DDC and Card Access systems. Review systems concerning operational status of connected building equipment in response to requests from craft persons or alarm conditions.
  • Review alarms and determine priorities while issuing work order requests to the appropriate shop.
  • Provide support to campus customers, students, and other Facilities & Services groups and shops.

This could include but not limited to:
a. HTML programming, and support implementing a web interface/graphics.
b. Review graphics while assisting in troubleshooting systems.
c. Provide data trending and reports.

  • Provide 24/7 emergency support for the DDC and Card Access systems.
  • There will be correspondence required between building occupants and crafts and trades on HVAC/Card Access that will require minor scheduling changes for building equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • The workload associated with the position can be stressful at times.
B. Physical Requirements- Could require lifting technology equipment up to 25 pounds.

C. Work Environment- Work is generally in office, however, there could be field work involved at times.

This could include visits to equipment rooms, where the environment is:
hot, cold, dusty, and noisy.


Minimum Qualifications for the DDC SPECIALIST 1

Specialty Factors

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 2 years work experience in ITrelated functions, such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field.
College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:

  • 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
  • Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
  • 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
  • Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
  • Demonstrated work experience in building automation programming.
  • Demonstrated experience equivalent to 2 years vocational training.

Minimum Qualifications for the DDC Specialist 2

These include the minimum qualifications of the DDC Specialist 1 with the addition of the following.

Specialty Factors

  • Demonstrated 2 years of work experience in building automation programming.
  • Demonstrated experience equivalent to 2 years vocational training.
  • Possession of at least one factory training certification in Siemens or Schneider Building Automation Systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in modifying graphical user interfaces.

Minimum Qualifications for the DDC Specialist 3

These include the minimum qualifications of the DDC Specialist 1 with the addition of the following.

Specialty Factors

  • Demonstrated 3 years of work experience in building automation programming.
  • Demonstrated experience equivalent to 2 years vocational training.
  • Possession of at least two factory training certifications in the same system, either Siemens or Schneider Electric Building Automation System.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating or building custom graphical user interfaces.
