OPPORTUNITY


The primary purpose of this position is to plan inbound, outbound, and inter-facility freight movements ensuring our freight spend is minimized and service levels are maximized.


As Transportation Planner, primary responsibilities include:

  • Ensure plans to deliver freight do not compromise safety or jeopardize compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for daily load planning on multiple transportation modes including LTL, Dry Van, and Bulk.
  • Using a TMS, route and sequence orders for delivery using a mix of carriers; private fleet, dedicated fleet, assetbased, and brokers.
  • Coordinate with peers in similar positions to fully utilize private and dedicated fleet capacity.
  • Analyze cost effectiveness of load planning decisions; balancing the need to meet customer delivery dates.
  • Provide creative solutions to carrier capacity constraints or expedited freight.
  • Communicate with Dispatch, Production, Warehouse, and Customer Service personnel to ensure the appropriate number of drivers and equipment are available to execute the plan and meet customer requirements.
  • Provide quality service to all internal and external Hydrite customers.
  • Uphold Hydrite's Standard of Excellence through a continuous commitment to maintain quality facilities and provide quality products and services to internal and external customers
  • Perform all duties outlined in relevant SOPs and all other duties to be assigned.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES**- Acts as backup to other Transportation Planners

  • As representatives of Hydrite, all employees are always required to conduct themselves in a professional manner.
  • Supports effective communication with all departments where responsibilities overlap to ensure success of the branch team.

REPORTING STRUCTURE

  • This position reports to the Transportation Planning Manager.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL CRITERIA

  • Postsecondary education and two years of work experience or high school diploma and four years of related work experience required.
  • Experience working with multiple modes of transportation including LTL, Dry Van, and Bulk.
  • Must be able to perform basic spreadsheet analysis.
  • Must have high communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to read, write, and speak English.
