Part Time, average of 6-8 hours per week

Director, New York City

Bronx, NY 10471


SALARY:
$16.00/hour, plus accommodations valued at $950/month

The House Manager's role is essential in creating a supportive and inclusive living environment that aligns with the Dax Program?s vision and values.

The position is expected to require 6 hours per week of on-site work.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions

Accessibility and Positive Peer ? Leader Relationship Building (1 hour per week)

Conduct weekly house meetings to build relationships with students and develop an atmosphere where students have concern and respect for the rights of others.

This is also a good opportunity to acknowledge the needs of residents, calendar possible events, etc.

Community Engagement (0.5 hours per week)
Develop a once-a-month opportunity for individuals to contribute to the housing community or engage with their housemates

(ex:
House projects/ social events i.e. Taco Night, movie night, etc.)

Conflict Resolution (1 hour per week)

Empower and educate students to resolve and mediate low-level conflicts; mediate conflicts among residents as they arise, employing restorative justice practices when appropriate; respond to crises in the house, including necessary paperwork, reporting, and resident follow-up.

Daily Operations (total of 2.5 hours per week)

Keep inventory of and manage the Dax house supplies; (0.5 hour per week) Maintain and implement a chore schedule; (0.

5 hour per week)

Ensure the houses are clean and orderly with the assistance of residents through weekly room checks; (1 hour per week) Report any maintenance issues/ repairs needed to Program Director.

(0.5 hour per week)


Collaboration and Support:
(1 hour per week)

Via weekly meeting with Program Director, assist in other appropriate daily tasks and collaborate on various aspects of the program.


Qualifications:


  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience working with young adults in a supportive role.
  • Passion for education and social justice.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to provide after-hours service as needed
