    Responsibilities

    The George Washington University Hospital (GW Hospital) is a 395-bed tertiary care, academic medical center located in downtown Washington, DC, next to the Foggy Bottom metro.

    GW Hospital serves a diverse group of patients

    from local residents to our nations leaders. As an academic medical center, GW Hospital has the resources and clinical expertise necessary to provide specialized, complex care. This expertise includes cardiac, cancer, neurosciences, womens health, trauma, and advanced surgery including robotic and minimally invasive surgery.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Retail Manager is responsible for food quality & customer service in an operation that may have branded concepts or other retail offerings.

    Directs the work of hourly and supervisory food service workers.

    The Retail Manager will be tasked with the organization and execution of all catering events and will oversee innovation and manage multiple events daily and weekly.

    Position requires successful foodservice experience, solid organizational skills and excellent leadership and team building skills.

    Qualifications

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    Education/Qualification

    • High school diploma or GED, Associates preferred
    • 2 years management experience required
    • 3 year s experience in concessions, retail sales or store operations preferred

    Skills

    • Ability to communicate (both verbal and written) effectively with patients, families, staff, physicians, support agencies, vendors and others .
    • Excellent planning and organization skills required.
    • Experience with and knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications as well as accounting software, time keeping software and payroll applications is required.
    • Ability to remain calm under stress. Ability to prioritize and exhibit flexibility to changing priorities
    • Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions.
    • Ability to work with confidential employee, client and UHS information.
