Responsibilities:
- Plan and facilitate effectively differentiated lessons in reading, writing, handwriting, spelling, science, math, and history.
- Contribute to building and maintaining equitable, inclusive, and respectful environments for all students and families.
- Commitment to the tenets of progressive education, including experiential learning, teaching to the whole child, democracy, and inquiry.
- Assess student learning on an ongoing basis and use this information to inform instruction
- Coplan with teaching colleagues. Work cooperatively with teachers across the division.
- Collaborate with Art, Music, PE, Spanish, and Innovation teachers.
- Foster a classroom environment where students feel comfortable taking risks, making mistakes, and being curious.
- Practice thoughtful, respectful, and effective classroom management techniques which support active learning and promote responsibility, selfmanagement, and positive relationships.
- Write progress reports and participate in parent/teacher conferences.
- Attend all faculty and divisional meetings.
- Supervise students during recess and other nonclass times as assigned.
- Develop, plan, and supervise field trips (local and overnights).
Qualifications & Skills
- A Bachelor's degree with a teaching qualification or equivalent;
- Experience as an elementary classroom teacher with a proven track record of excellence in teaching and classroom management;
- Strong knowledge and understanding of child development and best practices in education;
- Outstanding interpersonal and problemsolving skills;
- A proven ability to use and integrate technology effectively into the classroom setting to enhance and enrich the student learning experience;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Creative and visionary with a growth mindset and willingness to innovate and collaborate with others;
- Empathetic, supportive, good sense of humor, and a positive disposition.
Education
Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.
Experience
Two or more years of teaching experience is strongly preferred.
However, directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience may be considered in place of the above requirements.
