The Associate Director, Athletics, Compliance Coordinator at Emerson College is responsible for the overall management and coordination of activities at the college's sports facilities, including the Piano Row Gym and Athletic SkyBox.

This role involves ensuring the smooth operation of game day events, managing athletic equipment and uniforms, and representing the college in NEWMAC meetings and various committees.

The Coordinator also serves as a liaison between student organizations and the athletics department, negotiates game contracts, and maintains communication with stakeholders.

A critical aspect of this role is ensuring compliance with NCAA, NEWMAC, and institutional regulations, which includes overseeing student athlete eligibility and maintaining day-to-day compliance standards to uphold the college's standing with NCAA and NEWMAC.


ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Oversees the coordination and execution of activities in the Piano Row Gym and Athletic SkyBox, ensuring smooth operation of game day events.
  • Manages distribution, and upkeep of athletic equipment and uniforms for college sports programs.
  • Acts as a key liaison between student organizations and the athletics department, representing the college in NEWMAC meetings and various committees.
  • Handles game contract negotiations, maintaining consistent communication with all stakeholders.
  • Ensures compliance with NCAA, NEWMAC, and institutional regulations, including overseeing academic standing verification, registration, and NCAA compliance documentation.
  • Maintains daytoday compliance standards, ensuring the college's athletic programs operate within NCAA and NEWMAC guidelines.
  • Assists with the setup, operation, and takedown of daily practices and games.
  • Provides leadership on assigned projects, serving as the department liaison with other areas of the College, particularly regarding athletics.
  • Assists with visiting teams and officials, crowd control, and establishes a preventative maintenance program for athletic facilities.
  • Responds to athletic facility emergency situations and helps find alternate facilities for sports lacking home facilities. Schedules and processes all game contracts.
  • Handles distribution, retrieval, planning and maintenance of athletic equipment in compliance with college and NCAA regulations.
  • Inspects incoming supplies, maintaining an efficient inventory system and control.
  • Ensures retrieval of athletic equipment and clothing, maintains inventories and records, and launders clothing according to care requirements.
  • Monitors academic progress and standing of student athletes, ensuring NCAA eligibility requirements are met.
  • Administers and facilitates mandatory compliance meetings, addressing daytoday compliance questions and concerns.
  • Participates in NEWMAC meetings and conference committees as needed, with a focus on knowledge and enforcement of compliance rules and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS - Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform job.

  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred
  • 57 years' athletic administration experience at the postsecondary level.
  • 57 years' experience enforcing all NCAA, institutional and conference rules and regulations required.
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience required
  • Possession of current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications
  • A valid driver's license

  • Working knowledge of NCAA and NEWMAC rules and an understanding of the philosophy behind them.
  • Commitment to being a positive member of the Athletics Department, the College community and the ability to influence the athletes to do the same.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines on a regular basis.
