    Unique to the Community Development practice is our collaborative environment involving civil engineering, landscape architecture, sport design, and our urban places teams. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide variety of innovative and diverse projects, including the design of civil and municipal engineering projects for highways and local roads, public utilities and public works, parks, trails, and related infrastructure. The role consists of developing construction plans and specifications, performing calculations, quality reviews, proposal and technical writing, and project management while leading the analysis of proposed projects to ensure technical reliability, resource efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

    Your Key Responsibilities

    • Supports the growth of the office and region through technical expertise and team mentorship, project management, and/or client management.
    • Supports project teams, and coordinates with other disciplines, in development of design documentation, plans, and reports for relevant project design elements.
    • Assists in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
    • Utilizes technologies in development of three-dimensional models of civil systems.
    • Reviews shop drawings and submittals, responds to request for information, prepares site observation reports, and performs other contract administration tasks.
    • Develops job specific discipline specifications.
    • Evaluates and selects civil systems and materials.
    • Attends project coordination meetings.
    • Participates in value engineering, project cost estimating, and implementation of sustainable design principles.
    • Provides client service, development, management, opportunity pursuits and business growth.
    • Executes and manages complex civil engineering designs and multidisciplinary projects.
    Your Capabilities and Credentials
    • Experience representing private sector and/or municipal clients and projects.
    • Experience leading a team of professionals.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD, as well as relevant software programs which may include Civil3D, GIS, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, StormCAD, WaterCAD, and PondPack.
    • Experience in design functions, such as site planning, roads, drainage, grading, water systems, sanitary sewer systems and other municipal and private sector infrastructure.
    • Experience in project management functions; contract administration, bidding regulations, and quality assessments.
    • Knowledge of civil systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
    • Understanding of all phases of engineering document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
    • Create, suggest, and introduce innovative and effective client solutions and integrated deliverables that are aligned with business objectives.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Ability to travel as required.
    • Valid Driver's License and good driving record required
    Education and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering.
    • Professional Engineer license strongly preferred; ability to obtain within a year.
    • Minimum of 7 years of experience in land development, site civil projects or municipal/township engineering.
    Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
