General Information:


The Executive Assistant will provide administrative, fiscal, technology, and program support to the Executive Director and work on a team with the administrative staff to support the LC unit.

This position is primarily responsible for assisting the Executive Director, managing the LC budget, handling purchasing, supporting faculty and student travel, and supporting student hiring procedures.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Overall, this position is responsible for the following:
  • Providing administrative support to the Executive Director;
  • Providing fiscal support for the LC budget, including purchasing, budget tracking, budget planning, reconciliation, and student payroll;
  • Supporting travel arrangements;
  • Entering and approving ePARs for students and faculty;
  • Contributing to a professional, customerfocused, positive work environment;
  • Working on a team with the administrative staff;
  • Providing general program support to the LC service areas.

Qualifications:


  • Working knowledge of fiscal management principles and the preparation of financial reports, and the ability to learn JMU systems quickly;
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and work with a high degree of accuracy, reliability, and organization;
  • Working knowledge of office management practices;
  • Working knowledge of effective customer service practices;
  • Working knowledge of projectmanagement practices;
  • Exceptional problemsolving and organizational skills;
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including transparent, clear, and reliable communication;
  • Strong interpersonal skills that demonstrate respect for others and an ability to build relationships with a wide array of students, staff members, faculty members, and community members;
  • Comprehensive computer skills, with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Knowledge of Peoplesoft, JMU payroll, and survey tools, or the ability to learn these systems quickly;
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Commitment to inclusive excellence.
