GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under the supervision of the Golf Course General Manager, the Food & Beverage Manager is responsible for all operations of the restaurant, including beverage and bar service, meal preparation for golf and all other patrons, banquet and catering, concessions, food safety, hiring and training employees, customer service, and meeting all legal, health and local ordinance requirements.

The manager will supervise a staff of part-time employees.

  • Knowledge of the principles of sound financial management.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:


  • High school diploma. Associates degree or Bachelors degree in business or foodrelated field preferred.
  • Minimum five years of supervisory experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Valid driver's license required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (DUTIES):


  • Develop menu for restaurant patrons, special events and catering.
  • Market and promote the restaurant in the community to increase patronage and revenues.
  • Host special events as needed to increase revenue and awareness.
  • Maintain sanitation license and safe food handling practices; work closely with district safety guidelines.
  • Complete weekly inventory and orders for food, liquor and supplies.
  • Hire and supervise personnel for all food and beverage operations, including annual evaluations and disciplinary action as needed.
  • Maintain and schedule a staff of employees to allow the restaurant to successfully meet the expectations of customers on the golf course and in the restaurant.
  • Provide regular and ongoing staff training on topics to include: policies & procedures, customer service, server best practices, menu knowledge, etc.
  • Develop and adhere to operational budget; develop financial reporting procedures.
  • Oversee maintenance and custodial functions of facility; ensure areas are kept orderly and clean.
  • Work closely with the Recreation team to provide excellent customer experiences at Dolphin Lake Clubhouse.
  • Maintain facility schedule to insure events and staff are scheduled appropriately.
  • Prepare analytical reports on restaurant financial results.
  • Adapt menu and staff as needed to insure financial success of facility.
  • Conduct regular inventory analysis audits to insure security of food and beverage product.
  • Work cooperatively with all departments to ensure the success of the restaurant operations.
  • Ensure all legal requirements for facility are met, including but not limited to: maintain current liquor license, meet sanitation license requirements, bartenders and servers Basset training, respond to health department inspection reports.
  • Perform other duties and functions as directed.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Be familiar with and adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the Park District Policy and Procedure Manual, Personnel Policy Manual, and Safety Manual.
  • Assist with and/or attend park district special events.
  • Represent the park district while working with schools, sports leagues and other organizations on special projects.
  • Attend professional conferences and workshops to increase knowledge in related areas of responsibility.
  • Be aware of the Americans with Disabilities Act and implementation process.
  • On call at all times and as needed.

HOURS:


The Food & Beverage Manager has no established hours, yet is required to invest the time necessary to produce exceptional results.

It is essential to be regularly available during standard business hours to meet with staff, vendors, golfers, patrons and potential customers.
