Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center


Gateways Hospital and Mental Health Center located in Los Angeles, is a non-profit organization that provides an array of comprehensive mental health services for Children, Adolescents, Transitional Aged Youth, and Adults suffering from mental illness in the Greater Los Angeles area.

The organization consists of a standalone fifty five (55) bed hospital and six outlying outpatient facilities that have anywhere from fourteen (14) beds to one hundred and thirty four (134) beds.

The organization has approximately four hundred (400) employees.


The
Post-Doctoral Fellow's responsibilities include primary clinical care, individual and group therapy, conducting psycho social assessments, presenting case conceptualization and diagnostic formulations.


Minimum Experience Required

  • Completion of 1,500 hours of supervised training as part of internship
  • Six (6) months experience working in an adult and adolescent mental health setting

Minimum Education Required

  • Doctoral degree in psychology from an accredited institution with major work in psychology within 6 months of employment.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to provide psychology services and consultation for hospital adult and adolescent inpatients
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of individual, group and family therapy
  • Able to demonstrate basic skills in assessing patient dangerousness to self and /or others
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of DSM5 psychopathology; developmental theories; cognitive behavioral and family systems theories and abnormal psychology
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of professional ethical and legal standards in accordance with APA (American Psychological Association) regulations
  • Skilled in establishing therapeutic relationships with difficult patients
  • Able to perform psycho diagnostic assessments and relay findings, written and verbal, in a clear and concise manner
  • Able to work cooperatively and professionally in an interdisciplinary setting
  • Able to appropriately participate in supervision and be open to critical feedback
