This position is with our company Pure Guard, which manufactures a welded stainless steel exhaust duct system coated with our proprietary hybrid fluoropolymer PureGuard coating.

Our combination of welded stainless substrate and proprietary PureGuard coating satisfied all testing requirements necessary to gain Factory Mutual standard 4922 approval for corrosive fume and smoke exhaust without sprinklers.

Discovering your exciting role
Blasters have an essential role in the production of our quality PSP fluoropolymer coated stainless steel ducts.

The primary responsibilities of this position include product handling, safe operation of blasting equipment and performing quality inspections to ensure customer satisfaction.

Explore your tasks and responsibilities

  • Equipment Setup: Prepare sandblasting equipment, including the sandblasting machine, hoses, nozzles, and protective gear.
  • Surface Preparation: Inspect surfaces to be blasted, ensuring they are properly prepared and masked off if necessary to protect adjacent areas from abrasive blasting.
  • Material Handling: Handling of abrasive materials such as sand and ensuring proper loading into the blasting machine.
  • Safety Measures: Follow strict safety protocols and guidelines to protect oneself and others from hazards such as flying debris, noise, and dust. This includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as goggles, gloves, respirators, and protective clothing.
  • Operational Control: Operate sandblasting equipment, controlling the flow of abrasive material, air pressure, and nozzle movement to achieve the desired blasting effect without damaging the substrate.
  • Surface Blasting: Direct the blasting nozzle at the target surface, moving it methodically to remove contaminants, paint, rust, or coatings effectively. Adjust blasting parameters as needed for different surfaces and conditions.
  • Quality Inspection: Inspect blasted surfaces to ensure thorough cleaning and proper surface profile according to project specifications and standards.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance on sandblasting equipment, including cleaning and replacement of worn parts. Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform minor repairs as necessary through proper CMMS and SOP process.
  • Cleanup: Clean up work areas after blasting operations, including disposing of waste materials safely and ensuring proper containment and disposal of spent abrasive media.
  • Communication: Coordinate with other team members, supervisors, and clients to understand project requirements, timelines, and any special considerations. May be required to work in other areas as required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to comfortably work in a fastpaced work environment.
  • Passing a PFT exam, if wearing supplied air system (large blast booth).
  • Ability to stand on feet for up to 10 hours daily.

The work environment characteristics include periodic noise increases when in the Manufacturing facility, although the office environment is usually quiet and respectful.

Safety glasses and other required safety protection should be worn when out in the manufacturing facility, which may vary depending on the area you are working/visiting.
