    The Role

    Do you want to make a difference in our customers' lives and be part of a highly collaborative, cross-functional team committed to improving the value of our technology offerings within Fidelity's Core Brokerage Technology team?

    We are looking for an Account Opening Squad Leader who will blend business, technical and operational expertise with a passion for delivering results.

    As the product owner you are the end-to-end gatekeeper of the squad mission, strategy, and tactical execution associated with delivering on strategic priorities.

    In an Agile structure, you will partner with other Fidelity leaders to influence the broader strategic decisions, roadmaps and resource requirements, set and refine the mission, and bring together a team of chapter members to execute on specific product features and ensure respective products or services are available, stable, performant, and supported when required and related cost and maintenance is managed.

    You will ensure alignment on the "what", "why" and "when" work is to be performed through ongoing planning and prioritization of a product backlog.

    You will enable squad members to work iteratively, innovate through testing and experimentation, and learn from failures while celebrating success.

    You are committed to developing your own expertise and knowledge to ensure you bring the latest thinking to your role.


    In addition, your responsibilities include:

    • Defining, refining, and communicating the squads' mission and roadmap to motivate and build team and partner support and alignment
    • Anticipating, discovering through ongoing interaction with, and prioritizing client / partner needs to serve as their voice and guide execution of the team
    • Defining, evaluating, and communicating results against acceptance criteria
    • Inspecting and evaluating progress
    • Measuring performance against established objectives and KPI's that deliver on agreed upon business, technology, and people results
    • Collaborating and coordinating with Chapter Leaders and Scrum Masters to build squad capacity and capability and enabling squad member growth, development, and learning
    • Making informed trade-off decisions to strike the right balance between quality, cost, and timelines
    • Tightly coordinating with other Squads within Product Area to determine strategic priorities that may require Account Opening squad engagement and support.
    • Leading and delivering on Product Area objectives
    The Expertise and Skills You Bring


    • 10+ years of relevant product development work experience
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
    • Securities Industry Essentials Exam and Series 99 license required within 120 days of hire
    • Proven ability to engage senior business leaders, architects, Product Area leaders and identify efficiencies in approaches that help meet firm objectives.
    • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining dynamic products and solutions
    • Data-focused approach to understanding customer needs, translate strategic objectives into action, and prioritize to improve value delivered
    • Grasp sophisticated product features and break them into clear and concise stories with well-defined business value and acceptance criteria and optimally communicate these (20%)
    • Strong focus on execution and identify, communicate, and remove impediments to progress
    • Capable of leading, influencing, and motivating colleagues without formal authority, and have a track record of building hard-working teams
    • Establish and maintain unquestioning relationships as you work collaboratively across Fidelity to deliver business outcomes and seek out the expertise of colleagues to advise on your approach
    • Proven Agile experience
    • Continuously improve and encourage an Agile way of working
    • Jira and Jira Align experience preferred
    • Financial services experience, brokerage experience is preferred
    • Intellectually curious and model a culture of continuous learning, mentoring and coaching
    • Committed to developing a balance of technology and non-technology skills to fully appreciate the broad needs of our customers
    • Understand the myriad processes related to customer data, association, grouping, data protection and segregation to allow for broader thinking on system design and utilization
    The Team


    This dynamic team works in partnership with the Customer Account Management Product Area leader, other Squad Leaders, Scrum Master, and Chapter Leaders aligned to your squad who is responsible for modernization of brokerage account opening capabilities.
