- Product development from initial concept to design fruition and testing of prototype thermal & fluid systems. Responsibilities include system level design, component selection, and system fabrication.
- High-efficiency heat transfer system design for liquid-liquid and liquid-air heat exchange.
- Design of a highly reliable high-pressure heat transfer process.
- Conduct research and analysis to identify new materials, components, and processes that can enhance the performance and cost-effectiveness of systems.
- Develop and execute test plans and experiments to validate/optimize prototypes and verify compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Thermal-fluid system design including creating P&IDs.
- Thermal systems design of high temperature mechanical components including heat exchanger design, valves, fittings, etc.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design engineers, thermal engineers, materials scientists, chemical engineers, and manufacturing engineers, to ensure seamless integration of system components into the final products.
- Engage with external collaborators such as researchers, suppliers, and manufacturers as needed.
- Participate in consumer research and product ideation as needed.
- Participate in design review meetings.
- B.S, M.S, or PhD in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related field.
- Industry experience is preferred.
- Deep understanding of the fundamental principles of mechanical engineering, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer.
- Experience in refrigeration/compression cycles
- Experience with CAD Software (SolidWorks preferred).
- Hands-on experience building products in a lab, previous startup or design team.
- Working knowledge of MATLAB or Python & MS Excel
- The ability to think creatively and devise novel solutions.
- The ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
- Maintenance of a persistent attention to detail.
- Familiarity with materials science and selection, especially in corrosive and reactive materials.
- Experience with P&ID and test design.
- Experience with sensors, Raspberry Pi, Arduino and DAQs
