Essential Job Functions:


Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.

This position may be eligible for some telework from within Texas depending on the unit's needs.- Communicate and provide interpretations of licensing requirements,
- eligibility requirements, and other information to applicants, licensees,- correspondence. (30%)

  • Other Duties: Prepare and distribute license certificates to licensees. Files
- and archives documents in accordance with unit and agency policies.

  • Prepares reports as required. Attends required meetings and trainings.
  • Carries out other duties as assigned including but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location. May travel for functions outside of the work location.

Knowledge Skills Abilities:

Knowledge of office, administrative, and clerical practices, principles, and procedures.

  • Knowledge of correct business writing, grammar, word choice, sentence structure, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Skill in composing and editing written correspondence, memorandums, reports, and forms using Microsoft Word or equivalent word processing software.
  • Ability in providing quality customer service.
  • Ability to accurately interpret public health laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of documents, materials, and information.
  • Ability to communicate and express ideas clearly and accurately, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and work on multiple projects with rapidly changing priorities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with coworkers, maintaining an effective working relationship.
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Ability to provide a reliable internet service in a home office location free from distractions that will provide the ability to ensure confidentiality of work product.
  • Ability to pass a DPS background clearance check to review criminal history information

Registration or Licensure Requirements:

Must possess a valid Class C Texas driver's license, or equivalent license from another state. Employees/applicants are responsible for providing a copy of their driver's license prior to beginning employment.


Initial Selection Criteria:

Highschool Diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Additional Information:

Ability to pass a DPS background check to review criminal history information.

  • Safe operation of either a stateowned or personal vehicle is required to conduct state business and acceptable driving record must be maintained in accordance with Department of State Health Services Policy OS3901, Fleet Operations and Management & Procedures and standards developed by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
  • Applicants must work in the office during the training period, which usually lasts for six months. Some telecommuting may be considered depending on applicants' abilities and the Unit's needs.
