Position Summary:


  • The Interim Director of Information Systems reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
  • Oversees all Information Services Department operations infrastructure.
  • Manages and supervises employees in the Information Services Department.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates Information Systems and Clinical Informatics projects in line with organizational objectives.
  • Liaises with other departments to determine and address their information technology (IT) needs and requirements.
  • Manages and supervises employees in the department.
  • Identifies vulnerabilities, the need for upgrades, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Proposes strategic solutions and recommends new systems and software to COO/CNO or CFO, as applicable).
  • Prepares financial budgets and performance reports.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with external advisors and vendors.
  • Ensures reported issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Has responsibility for services at all LVMC Facilities.
  • Serves as a key advisor to members of the senior administration team in developing and executing strategic plans to maximize the use of IT in support of business objectives.
  • Must work well under stress and tight deadlines.
  • Onsite no remote.

Position Duties/Responsibility:


  • Develops and recommends objectives and priorities of information systems. Develops overall strategy for systems development.
  • Manages liaison between information systems and other functions. Reports to COO/CNO or CFO, as determined, on information systems plans, projects, performance, and related matters.
  • Directs acquisition, integration, and installation of hardware and software.
  • Develops and implements all department policies and procedures, technical standards, and methods based on evidencebased practices. All policies follow CMS, CDPH, Rules and Regulations.
  • Coordinates the development of advance arrangements and procedures to ensure the organization can respond to an IT disaster and critical business functions can be resumed within a defined time frame with mínimal loss.
  • Coordinates, designs, develops, maintains, and exercises (tests) the overall IT disaster recovery plans for each critical functional area of the organization.
  • Coordinates the IT recovery function in the event of an actual disaster recovery effort.
  • Submits reports as requested to senior management/administration.
  • Maintains project lists and manages project priorities and schedules to ensure timely project completion.
  • Ensures the organization meets all the mandated security and compliance standards.
  • Negotiates contracts and coordinates installation and/or modification of all communication systems and equipment.
  • Educates and provides guidance to executives, physicians, and governing groups in the areas of information technology and management to ensure a sound knowledge base for technology and policy decisions.
  • Maintains contact with suppliers of information technology and maintain current knowledge of technology, equipment, prices, and terms of agreements to minimize the investment required to produce established service levels. Evaluates all factors, performs appropriate cost benefit analyses, and recommends alternatives that minimize costs commensurate with acceptable risks.
  • Prepares and maintains operating and capital budgets for the Information Services Department and monitors Information Services activities and costs related to the overall utilization of resources required to meet organizational information systems requirements.
  • Develops, monitors, evaluates, and reports on systems of assurance and control over the confidentiality, security, integrity, and uses of enterprisewide data.
  • Ensures that proper staffing resources are identified, recruited, and trained to maintain the highest level of service.
