About us:The Medical Assistant performs a variety of activities related to the clinical area, including medical support systems, and assisting medical personnel with study participants basic care duties as assigned.

Incumbents work under supervision of Clinical Shift Supervisor and/or Clinical Research Coordinator (assigned to study), performing routine duties and referring questions and problems to the supervisor.


Responsibilities:


  • Maintain safety and wellbeing of study participants during assigned shift.
  • Maintain examining room by cleaning and setting up equipment, keeping rooms stocked with supplies, and preparing examining tables.
  • Perform duties, including but not limited to, taking vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, respiration), temperature, height, weight, ECG tracing.
  • Perform a variety of routine blood drawing procedures to include venipuncture, techniques using standard equipment to include vacutainer tubes and sleeves, tourniquets, syringes, and butterfly needles.
  • Choose appropriate vials and containers necessary for specimen collection, depending upon tests ordered.
  • Supply and stock phlebotomy trays with needed equipment
  • Keep apprised of all new ACLS/BLS and GCP/ICH rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and neat documentation records as required by the protocol.
  • Follow proper safety procedures and report to supervisor immediately all injuries, unsafe practices, and unusual incidents.
  • Collect demographic, medical, and medication history.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with Director of Clinical Operations, Clinical Research Coordinators, Sub-Investigator, and Principal Investigator.
  • Enter data as appropriate for multiple Electronic Data Capture platforms as well as respond and resolve queries that may arise.
  • Meet defined goals established in conjunction with site leadership.
  • Study, learn, and comply with ERG site standard operating procedures, and other policies, practices, and regulations where applicable.

Skills and Qualifications:

Education and experience

  • Certification or registration as a Medical or Nursing Assistant with a minimum of six months experience in basic clinical skills in a medical facility
  • BLS and/or ACLS required.
  • Clinical Research experience preferred but not required.
  • Basic computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office are required.

Requirements

  • Understands regulatory requirements, as well as Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and International Conference of Harmonization (ICH) guidelines.
  • Knowledgeable in medical terminology
  • Excellent communication skills (interpersonal, written, verbal)
