Associated Spring is currently seeking an experienced Buyer for the Milwaukee location._
This is an exciting and challenging career opportunity for a dynamic professional to support and scheduling of in-house and supplier resources to meet contracted manufacturing lead-time. As well as be responsible for developing the schedule for production of finished goods and the time phased delivery schedule of key raw materials to establish the sequence and/or lead times to meet customer demand. This position will be responsible for working directly with internal and external customers during all phases of the product's lifecycle. Core Responsibilities:


  • Assure internal and external customer material requirements are met in accordance with the schedule.
  • Understand and monitor the raw material forecast /schedule of due dates for production.
  • Develop the production schedule for finished goods.
  • Work with Operations to determine the optimal level of production and/or purchase to maximize manufacturing efficiencies, minimize raw and finished goods inventories, and meet or exceed customer service expectations.
  • Manage the inventory position for the division, accountable for supplier on time delivery and other key performance metrics.
  • Develop and maintain effective MPS schedule for SIOP Process and respective value stream, working within parameters of customer requirements and capacity planning.
  • Knowledge of process and machines related to products manufactured and repaired within business units. Work closely and interface with Operations Manager, Production Supervisors, and Sourcing Team
  • Work closely with crossfunctional leads, identify, plan, and resolve inconsistencies and gaps between demand and supply.
  • Support commodity strategy and longterm agreements for price, delivery, and total cost management.
  • Secure and analyze quotations, negotiate prices with suppliers, and recommend suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities.
  • Analyze and act on the purchase recommendations generated by the materials management system, including generating Purchase Orders, communicating PO's to suppliers, receiving acknowledgements, and performing other PO maintenance as needed
  • Monitor, assess and resolve supplier delivery and quality performance issues, including problem shipments, receiving issues, packaging standards, open PO's, expedite/defer requests, problem invoices, and other issues as needed.
  • Monitor lead times and lead time offsets (keep current standards) in the system to reflect lean manufacturing, and flow principles.
  • Results oriented with effective problem solving and project management skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

years' experience in Supply Chain/Purchasing/Inventory Management/Planning/Production Scheduling

  • Must have the ability to prioritize workload, coordinate with team and make decisions. Meet customer needs.
  • Ability to perform previously stated responsibilities while assisting the Operations Manager in the development and execution of the schedule.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills a must
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Monarch, and PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
  • Excellent leadership and team skills required. Able to effectively interface at all levels of the organization.

Education Requirements:

  • BS Degree in Management, Business, Logistics, Supply Chain or equivalent work experience.
  • CPIM, APICS, CPSM certification desirable
