- Collects and analyzes patient specimens and records normal and abnormal results in the electronic medical record.
- Discuss specimen sample results with the ordering provider.
- Train staff members on lab procedures, policies, proper use of equipment and safety procedures.
- Take ownership of lab equipment maintenance and calibration schedules, coordinate lab consultant as needed, and ensure equipment is operating properly.
- Maintain supplies and equipment inventories: orders supplies and equipment for the laboratory.
- Complete all laboratory compliance checklists, paperwork, and ensure the lab is operating within federal and state guidelines governing all sites that test specimens.
- Works alongside nursing staff, providers, managers, and outside consultants.
- Maintains the highest level of patient confidentiality and professionalism.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the manager.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to be resourceful and maintain professionalism in stressful environments.
- Minimum of 1 Year's experience working in a physician's office laboratory.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Certification as an MLT or currently pursuing certification.
- Pediatric experience is required.
