THE POSITION:


DESCRIPTION OF WORK:


As a Corrections Food Service Instructor, you will function as lead worker by assigning, participating in, and reviewing routine and specialized tasks performed by inmates in the areas of pre-preparation, production, service, and baking.

You will ensure proper control over inmates by enforcing custody and security regulations and inspecting all food service areas, equipment, and food for conformance with established safety and sanitation standards.


Join the DOC team in their mission to reduce criminal behavior by providing individualized treatment and education to offenders, resulting in successful community reintegration through accountability and positive change.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:


  • Fulltime employment (40hour work week)
  • Work hours are 4:30 AM to 12:30 PM or 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with rotating weekends and holidays.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY:


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:


  • Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar largescale food production operation;
    or:
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirement:


  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirement:


  • You must pass a background investigation.
