UT Austin offers the following for part-time employees:

  • Free Capital Metro transportation
  • Free UHD meal during shift
Purpose

  • Provide production and support for food preparation, which includes but is not limited to cooking, stocking, rotating, serving, and maintaining products within Housing and Dining

Responsibilities:


  • Serve food during the time the dining area is open.
  • Accurately identify food items, portion sizes, and meal combination packages.


Required Qualifications- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal communication skills.- Professional demeanor.- Demonstrated ability to receive, respond, and follow through with written and oral University Housing and Dining policies, procedures, and work-related instructions from supervisors, customers, and co-workers.- Ability to complete and maintain University Housing and Dining Food Safety Training and/or ServSafe.


  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate._


Preferred Qualifications- Six months of experience preparing and assisting in the preparation of food.- Six months of experience preparing food in a high-volume commercial establishment.

Salary Range

$18.00 per hour


Working Conditions- Uniforms and/or personal protection equipment (furnished).- May work in extreme temperatures.- May work around electrical and mechanical hazards- Use of manual dexterity.- Climbing of stairs.- Climbing of ladders.- Pushing, pulling, and moving up to 50 pounds.- Exposure to heat and equipment common in a kitchen.

Work Schedule

Workdays, area, and work hours (19 hrs. max per week) may vary based on the needs of the unit and University Housing and Dining (UHD).
