We're currently in the midst of the largest wealth transfer in history — an estimated $11T of baby-boomer owned businesses is set to change hands this decade.

Mainshares is building the capital markets platform to finance this wealth transfer. We help hungry SMB operators meet investors, raise capital to buy businesses, and succeed as owners.

Our software platform provides the trust layer between SMB entrepreneurs and investors, handling discovery, compliance, and investment management.


About the Role:

To achieve our vision, we need to evangelize SMBs as an incredible asset class for investors.

That means a world where investors understand the value proposition of SMBs as cash-flowing investments, are familiar with the various investment structures, and trust the Mainshares platform to surface quality opportunities and assist in managing distributions and returns.

We are hiring a Head of Investor Relations to help us turn that vision into a reality. This role requires a mix of sales, marketing and strategy.

This person will initially be responsible for everything from individual investor onboarding calls to building up a hub of webinars, guides and case studies to educate investors on SMB investing.

Over time, this person will hire and lead a high-performing team responsible for investor sign-ups and activation. We need someone who can think strategically but is excited to get their hands dirty.


Responsibilities:


  • Running point on onboarding new investors to Mainshares, explaining features and functionality of platform as well as the opportunity in SMB investing.
  • Be an evangelist for SMBs as an asset class — holding webinars, developing market reports, and owning the gotomarket roadmap for investors.
  • Plan and guide implementation of various growth marketing initiatives, including newsletters, case studies, partnerships, etc.
  • Serve as voice of the customer for investors internally, advocating for new features, functionality and products to deliver the best experience possible.

Requirements:


  • B.S. in Finance, Economics or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a sales, advisory or marketing role to investors, preferably with exposure to alternative investments.
  • Strong knowledge of alternative investment strategies and their role in an investment portfolio, including real estate, private equities, etc.
  • Past ownership over marketing initiatives, such as lifecycle marketing, newsletters, or paid channels.
  • Exceptional written skills, capable of running point on content initiatives in the early days.
  • Rapid iteration cycles, and able to distill learnings to colleagues in product, engineering and operations.

Nice-to-Have:


  • Previous small business experience.
  • Strong handle on growth marketing, including channels such as SEO, referral programs, SEM.
  • Past experience in a fintech startup.
