The Engine Division of Kawasaki Motors Corp, headquartered in Grand Rapids, MI has an immediate opening for an Inventory Planning Specialist based in Grand Rapids, MI.

The Inventory Planning Specialist responsibilities with some oversight include demand forecasting, inventory replenishment planning and ordering of spare parts.

At the lowest possible company cost, they will plan inventory levels schedule orders and coordinate the flow of materials to meet delivery expectations of forecasted and actual sales while minimizing inventory levels.


Responsibilities:


  • With daily oversight, manage $2,500,000+ in inventory and 4,000 stock keeping units.
  • Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of planning and purchasing forecasts for assigned vendors and stock keeping units.
  • Have a basic understanding of external factors that could impact supply chain such as the economy, transportation, union negotiations, availability of raw materials, and vendor relations, etc.
  • Issue purchase orders for four US based warehouse locations based on the demand analysis.
  • With assistance, coordinate with production plants and sales departments to develop appropriate forecasts and planning strategies with clear communication.
  • Follow company Purchasing Policies and Procedures, Code of Ethics, and Values and adherence to various laws and regulations.
  • Review monthly, purchase order push outs, pull ins, cancellations, as well as cross stocking errors.
  • Assists in negotiating with supplier's lead times and order due dates with a low degree of direct supervision.
  • Assist in working with other Engines Division departments and Kawasaki Divisions as necessary to coordinate part number and cost changes, as well as special projects.
  • Assist in working with suppliers to facilitate nonstandard customer shipments.
  • Communicate with 3PL warehousing partners regarding inbound shipments
  • Work with FT and LTL carriers on inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Attend meetings as necessary.
  • Occasional travel required.

Skills needed to be successful:


  • High school diploma required.
  • Experience in an inventory/purchasing environment preferred.
  • Must exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be extremely detail and deadline oriented.
  • Moderate Microsoft Excel knowledge.
