Responsible for managing department operations, setting, and achieving department goals, and coaching a strong underwriting team through strong leadership skills, impeccable relationship -building abilities, and a passion to deliver the best customer service.


  • Supervisory Responsibilities: _
  • Manage/Administer team operations; participate in strategic planning and implementation of strategic plans as they relate to the Brokerage team.
  • Manage team workflows, ensuring the team is following SOP's (Standard Operation Procedures) and company guidelines, while meeting benchmarks set for the team.
  • Prepare and execute semiannual performance job reviews for each team member.
  • Monitor and encourage the team to contribute ideas to the ideas/suggestions database as well as implement the suggestions.
  • Support weekly training sessions of the team to educate associates online of business issues and company underwriting guidelines and forms/endorsements; help maintain staff's knowledge of any changes by the companies and industry.
  • Work with Human Resources for hiring new associates and personnel issues.
  • Duties/ Responsibilities: _
  • Create new procedures and update SOP's, as needed, to ensure consistent, highquality work by each team member.
  • Become knowledgeable of all carriers that are represented and product lines and policy and binder setups.
  • Evaluate submissions for acceptability to company underwriting guidelines and distribution to underwriting staff for quotation.
  • Perform agency visits and build JM Wilson presence in the marketplace for the state.
  • Travel to home office, insurance companies, and state conventions as well as customer offices.
  • Attend semiannual strategic planning meetings, including those for planning annual budgets with benchmarks.
  • Conduct underwriting audits.
  • Ensure that the office has the correct computer hardware and software.
  • Performs other duties as requested.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: _
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail oriented with creative, customercentric problemsolving skills, decision making and negotiation skills.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills with ability to handle requests within company guidelines with frequent interruptions.
  • Excellent leadership qualities in conflict resolution, people management and coaching skills with proven ability to navigate stressful situations with a calm, positive leadership style.
  • Skilled at adapting to and managing changes and corporate goals, vision, and growth.
  • Education and Experience: _
  • Bachelor's degree required, plus at least two years of experience managing people.
  • Experience with company rating programs.
  • Experience in leading hybrid or remote employees is a plus.
  • Computer knowledge of AS400 and Salesforce a plus.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Pay will be commensurate with experience level.
  • Physical Requirements: _
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
