- Associate's degree in applied science, Radiology Technology, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Registered or registry-eligible Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
- Candidate must obtain ARDMS registration and BLS certification within 12 months of employment
- Certifications must be maintained for continued employment
- Knowledge and understanding of sonography best practices and procedures
- Knowledge and understanding of sonography equipment, general anatomy/physiology, medical terminology, and electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Knowledge of privacy laws including HIPAA and FERPA
- Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
- Excellent time management, organizational, and customer service skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Two years of experience as a sonographer in a hospital, primary care, or college health setting
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer RDMS(OB/GYN) or (AB)
- Medical Radiologic Technologist general certificate through the Texas Medical Board
- Registered Radiologic Technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Performs high quality diagnostic ultrasound exams while following established safety standards and best practices
- Explains exam procedures to patients and provides necessary pre- and post-exam instructions to patients
- Prepares patients and area for exam by positioning the patient and moving equipment into specified position
- Maintains knowledge and skills by participating in continuing education activities
- Cleans and disinfects equipment according to infection control procedures
- Maintains equipment, exam rooms, and office area to meet quality and safety standards
- Reports equipment malfunctions and other potential issues to the Radiology Supervisor
- Ensures that radiology programs and services follow established quality, safety, and confidentiality laws, standards and procedures
- Greets patients and performs medical office duties including, but not limited to: documentation of patient care in the electronic medical record, appointment scheduling, and maintaining supplies inventory
- May train radiology staff and student workers
- Performs other duties as assigned

The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, under general supervision, is responsible for performing ultrasound examinations as directed by a physician.
What you need to know
This is a part-time position.
Other Requirements or Other Factors:
Ability to exert moderate force. This is a security-sensitive position. The individual in this position is required to handle Protected Health Information (PHI) as defined by HIPAA regulations.
The individual is required to handle PHI in accordance with the A&M System policy and is further required to complete HIPAA training as a condition of employment, within a reasonable time frame after the individual's employment, and on an as-needed basis thereafter.
In accordance with the federal contractor vaccination mandate, specific facilities at The Texas A&M System may be considered a covered contractor workplace with covered contractor employees.
