    Description

    Safety Manager Position

    We are seeking an experienced construction safety professional interested in working with our mechanical tradespeople to ensure that we operate the safest jobsites and shops in the industry. This person must be highly motivated, as this position often requires independent work, and develop trusting relationships with our employees to instill a safe culture.

    Qualifications:

    · Five years of safety and/or risk control experience, preferably in construction industry

    · Excellent communication, writing and teaching skills

    · Exceptional follow-through with our customers

    · Certification in safety or risk control related field

    · Strong relationship building skills, both internal and external

    · Ability to work with technology, including Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Outlook

    · Ability to handle multiple tasks and complex situations

    · Valid driver's license

    Travel:

    Frequent travel to construction jobsites. Some overnight travel may be required, but the majority of the projects are within the metro Detroit area.

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    This is a proactive position with the responsibility to identify hazard and train employees before injuries occur. The primary focus is developing and conducting safety training, project safety management, promoting safety policies/procedures, project safety audits, regulatory compliance.

    This person must be a competent trainer or willing to become a competent trainer in the following:

    · OSHA 10 and 30 hour trainer

    · OSHA recordkeeping

    · Forklift training

    · Safety Awareness

    · Hand/Power tool safety

    · Lockout/Tagout

    · Respirator (use and fit testing)

    · Material handling

    · Fall protection

    · 1st Aid/CPR trainer

    · Hazardous communication

    · Confined space training

    · Safety & rigging

    · Excavation

    · Asbestos Awareness

    · DOT compliance

    · DOT HAZMAT & security

    Other responsibilities include:

    · OSHA Compliance assistance

    · OSHA Citation assistance

    · DOT program audits

    · DOT compliance assistance

    · Pre-Job safety planning assistance

    · Safety committee leader

    · Provide safety resources (toolbox talks, forms, training)

    · Investigate losses as needed

    · Participate in claim reviews with management personnel

    · Continuously search for trends in incidents and opportunities for prevention
