We are currently on the lookout for a Composite Materials Scientist / Composite Materials Specialist to join our Materials and Process Engineering team.


Responsibilities:


  • Perform Engineering tasks to develop 3D additive manufacturing, compression molding and injection molding projects supporting the prototyping programmes
  • Perform research and development projects using science, engineering and speculative hypotheses
  • Identify, communicate, act and resolve issues raised with nonmetallic (composites) Engineering projects
  • Perform polymeric material selection decisions for new product development projects
  • Work closely, on daily basis, with Design Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing teams to support their needs of materials selection
  • Collaborate with CAE team with performing tests on as received materials and semi/finished components
  • Developing advanced characterization techniques for composite materials
  • Handson prototyping of innovative technologies, new ideas and solutions

Qualifications:

  • Ph.
D. or Master in polymer materials science, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related technical field

  • 2+ years of practical knowledge in injection molding and additive manufacturing technologies
  • Experience in 3D scanning processes and reverse engineering
  • 23 years of research and development work experience with polymeric materials
  • Working knowledge of mechanical engineering, structural engineering, failure of materials and experimental design
  • Experience in joining/welding of polymeric materials
  • Experience in driving R&D projects with universities, external test house and manufacturing suppliers
  • Proven success generating and testing hypotheses to initiate and complete investigations at a quick pace
  • Proven success working within an interdisciplinary team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to teach a technically diverse audience using formal and informal techniques
