POSITION SUMMARY: Group Leaders are responsible for providing safe and effective direct client care services in accordance with individual client treatment plans and in conjunction with the structure of the treatment program to which they are assigned. Group Leaders are expected to adhere to all Pathway policies regarding the delivery of comprehensive quality care to clients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Provide direct supervision and management of client behavior in a consistent and equitable manner.
* Acknowledge and respect client rights.
* Provide clients with guidance and instruction in the performance of basic living skills.
* Accompany and direct clients to all components of their treatment program; remain with clients as assigned by the Shift Leader and/or Program Director; adhere to the Weekly Planning Schedule.
* Participate in vocational program assignments and activities with clients.
* Accurately and thoroughly document all client activities per policy; documentation must be legible.
* Assure that hand-off to next shift is complete with entries in permanent written log and verbal communication regarding
routine and unusual events.
* Provide age-appropriate structured evening group activity per instructional support from the primary therapist.
* As a member of client Treatment Teams, participate in evaluations of client progress in the program.
* Implement Environment of Care Plans (i.e. Fire Safety, Security, etc.) as necessary and participate in Plan testing.
* Supervise and monitor clients in regard to client safety, following applicable client care policy.
* Ensure that clients are dressed appropriately for current weather conditions; report deficiencies in clothing supplies to supervisor and/or primary therapist.
* Follow proper reporting procedures for actual or potential accidents or incidents so follow-up and/or prevention can occur
* Continuous and keen observation of client behavior; respond appropriately with approved techniques for verbal and
physical behavior management issues; report changes in client behaviors to supervisor; report client needs for one-to-one
supervision to supervisor immediately.
* Communicate client medical/dental complaints and concerns to nursing staff in a timely manner.
* Ensure that team medical box remains with team at all times; document use of medications and supplies from box.
* Complete accurate daily campsite safety, security, cleanliness & organization inspections and checklists; complete
applicable task completion checklists in areas assigned per the Planning Schedule.
* Monitor safety aspects of physical plant; remediate potentially hazardous situations immediately; report concerns and problems to supervisor.
* Organize multiple job functions to effectively complete varied responsibilities within established time frames.
* Participate in mandatory staff education per the Pathway Staff Training and Development Plan; assist with orientation of new child care staff members.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Experience, and Competencies
Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Experience and Competencies: Some experience in the provision of direct child care is preferred, yet not required; the individual is trustworthy and able to maintain strict levels of confidentiality when dealing with clients, proprietary information, & sensitive situations; acquires basic knowledge of the laws, regulations and standards related to the provision of behavioral health care and the care of children in the custody of social service agencies; must have the ability to relate to
PERSONNEL/STAFF TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT
SUBJECT: Program Position Descriptions, Qualifications
GROUP LEADER/SENIOR GROUP LEADER (con't) people at all levels of an organization and possesses excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; this individual exhibits behavior and judgment, both while on duty and off, worthy of a role model to young men and women from diverse cultures and experiential backgrounds. Group Leaders must maintain a valid Alabama Driver License, submit to a background investigation, and complete an annual tuberculosis screening, as well as a physical health examination every three (3) years.
Language Skills: Ability to read agency regulations; ability to respond effectively to inquiries or complaints from licensing agency representatives, staff, clients, and family members; ability to adapt communications to clients' level of functioning. Mathematical Skills: Ability to utilize basic mathematics skills.

All employees are offered the opportunity to receive the Hepatitis B vaccination series, and personal protective equipment is provided.
