With outpatient locations in Santa Monica, and Culver City, and detox/ residential facilities in Woodland Hills, we offer a wide range of services tailored to meet the diverse needs of our clients.

Behavioral Health Technician - Detox/Residential Level of Care (overnight shift)

The Behavioral Health Technicians provide integral assistance in compliance with the best practices for addiction treatment.

The BHTs report to the Director of Clinical Services with cross-training and direction from the Nurse Lead and Medical Director for medically related tasks.

The BHTs work in collaboration with the entire treatment team and directly with clients in a clinically supported and supervised role.

The ability to maintain a safe and supportive environment through use of appropriate boundaries, compassionate care and documented observations and communication are imperative for success within this role.

Essential functions of the role include:_

  • Monitors clients at all times during shift to ensure safety and compliance with program rules.
  • Communicate regularly with nursing and clinical staff regarding client progress and any concerns or updates.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of assigned property inside and outside, complete checklist for assigned shift.
  • Conduct drug and alcohol testing when required, following protocols and instruction from medical staff.
  • Facilitate clinical groups under supervision while working towards the CADC-I or higher education in the field (day shift only)
  • Assist in coordination of doctor visits, medication dispersion, meals, snacks, and approved tobacco consumption.
  • Conduct intake searches and periodic room searches of client personal property in line with facility protocols.
  • Complete end of shift report (EOSR) and other documentation in a timely manner, requesting support when needed.
  • Coordinate and/or provide transportation of participants to and from the facility
  • DL approval required upon hire (day shift only).
  • Utilize deescalation and compassionate intervention skills when working with clients.
  • Escalate client concerns appropriately, adhering to confidentiality and safety protocols provided by supervisor.
  • Ensure treatment schedule is adhered to by clients during programming, documenting when not followed.
  • Maintain participant, staff, and vendor safety protocols are adhered to at all times. Report concerns to supervisor.
  • Dress appropriately for the role see employee handbook or supervisor for details.
  • Maintain professional boundaries with clients, adhering to safety protocols and training at all times.
  • Act as a role model at all times, sharing personal experience, strength, and hope with clients where appropriate.
  • Attend regular training and supervision with the clinical and medical team.
  • Report challenges or concerns directly to the supervisor; attend follow up meetings/ training on the topic.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Required _

  • High School Diploma or equivalency test required.
  • Currently enrolled or ability to enroll in CADC-I program within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft (word, excel), Slack, Cliq and Google (docs, sheets, gmail) preferred.
  • The ability to follow both verbal and digital protocols. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • A strong familiarity with the twelvestep recovery program preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records systems (KIPU) preferred but not required.
